Moonlight Rocks: our newest tour!
In the cool of the evening, join us for a magical exploration of rocks which glow in the dark! We start with an hour of collecting pretty fluorite specimens in daylight, then have a campfile geology lesson at our creekside meadow, while waiting for darkness. Once dark, we'll take a short, easy walk to an area where the 1920's miners left behind piles of fluorescent fluorite pieces. Once illuminated with our 'black lights', its like standing on a pile of glowing blue diamonds! Fill your pockets with cool specimens!
Dates:
Trips are held every Wednesday Saturday evening in July & August. Meeting time changes with the season. Moonlight trips for 2008 start July 1.
